_Amanda Turner was born
in Nottingham, England, and trained at Elmhurst Ballet School in
Camberley where her teachers included Mercia Hetherington and Merle
Park, principle dancer and artistic director of The Royal Ballet.
Upon leaving Elmhurst, she secured a soloist ballerina position with Israel National Ballet, and continued her classical ballet career in Europe with Munich Ballet Theatre, Vienna Ballet Theatre, Vienna Festival Ballet, and Gala performances throughout the UK with Wayne Sleep (The Royal Ballet). Her repertoire includes such classics as Swan Lake, Nutcracker, Giselle, Les Sylphides, Sleeping Beauty, Serenade, Paquita, Romeo and Juliet, as well as a wide variety of modern and contemporary works. Ms. Turner was the recipient of the Sylphide Cup in London, for outstanding performance, which was adjudicated and presented by Dame Ninette de Valois. She was also granted the professional title A.R.A.D. (highest honors) by The Royal Academy of Dance in London. Ms. Turner was offered the position of solo dancer in Andrew Lloyd Weber's "The Phantom of The Opera" by choreographer Gillian Lynne and performed in the premiere cast in Vienna. Other Musical Theatre credits include: Evita, West Side Story, Hello Dolly, Oliver, Beauty and the Beast, Little Me, and Damn Yankees. |

Amanda served as dance captain on most of the shows that she performed
in. Before the death of the late Gwen Verdon, Ms. Turner was fortunate
enough to be coached by her and has studied, taught and danced the
"Fosse" repertoire. She was also the assistant to Ann Reinking with her
Masterclass series at Steps on Broadway in New York.
Ms. Turner was the Artistic Director of her own multi media dance company, The Turner Project, who made their Off-Broadway debut at the Mazer Theatre, NYC, in May 2003, and performed their full length program Out of Water in 2004, at The Duke Theatre on 42nd Street. Amanda is currently the Artistic Director of "Dancer Hub" in Italy, an organization dedicated to offering guidance and support to aspiring dancers and providing international exchange programs for dancers, giving them the opportunity to train in different countries. Ms. Turner has taught on the faculties of many professional schools including several years teaching Theatre Dance at Broadway Dance Centre in New York City, and teaching Advanced Ballet and Pointe for the pre-professional program at Steps On Broadway for almost a decade, where she has trained and mentored many students towards achieving their goals for placement in dance colleges and professional dance engagements. Ms. Turner works throughout the U.S. and internationally as a master teacher, choreographer and consultant, and was voted by Dance Magazine as one of New York's Top 10 Women Artists "who are doing it all". She has choreographed for Klagenfurt Opera House, Jekyll and Hyde (Germany), Lifetime Television, numerous promotional events and benefit gala's, her own company, and hundreds of student performances. Ms. Turner has had a long-standing professional relationship with both the co-founders of Revolucion Latina Organization and is honored to be able to share her time for this inspiring cause. Amanda has taught classes for the "Dare To Go Beyond" workshops, the RL Summer Camps, and was one of the choreographers in the 2011 Choreographers Festival. Amanda is also a fully certified Ayurvedic Lifestyle Consultant (ALC), an Ayurvedic Yoga Specialist (AYS) and a member of the National Ayurvedic Medical Association (NAMA). She brings all of these principles of balance of the mind, body, and spirit to her work. |
